Product description

Organic oat oil is a plant oil obtained by CO₂ extraction for cosmetic formulations. The light yellow oil is characterised by its typical, intense oat scent and its balanced fatty acid profile.

The oil is obtained from oats by gentle CO₂ extraction. The process yields a distinctive oat oil whose pronounced natural scent should be taken into account when developing fragrance and formulation concepts.

From a formulation perspective, oat oil is notable for its linoleic and oleic acid content, complemented by palmitic acid and alpha-linolenic acid (omega-3). This fatty acid profile makes it a versatile building block for a variety of cosmetic oil phases.

The product can be incorporated into facial and body oils, creams and emulsions, balms and hair care formulations.

Natural

Extraction with supercritical CO₂ at moderate temperatures and in the absence of oxygen – particularly gentle on heat-sensitive constituents.

CO₂-extracted oils are obtained using supercritical carbon dioxide. Under pressure, the carbon dioxide reaches a supercritical state and can therefore be used as an extraction solvent for the oil constituents.

This physical process allows comparatively moderate temperatures to be used. As a result, the oils are subjected to less thermal stress during extraction than with some other manufacturing processes. The CO₂ is then removed again; with proper process control, no residues of the extraction solvent remain in the oil.
